Friday Factoid Five #6

   Blogisphere. Hello.

It's Friday and I have a long weekend as I am off Monday and Tuesday of next week. Super excited about this! So join me in my 5 things for Friday as we count down to the weekend! I can post this one now because I have stuff in here about a surprise event for a co-worker and it's done now...so there will be no cats getting out of any bags.

1. If I had my my way I'd eat out every night. By "my way" I naturally mean "If I was independently wealthy". That pipe dream is out. But I do ask Aaron to go out every now and again. I just love the experience of deciding what you want, ordering, waiting for the food and then choosing a dessert. It's enticing.

2. I love getting dressed up. That's probably part of the appeal of Halloween, weddings and the like. I love a whole outfit, accessorized to the tee. Dresses, heels, makeup.

3. I hate 'know-it-alls" even though sometimes I am one. Everyone in a work place is replaceable. No one knows everything about everything, so just calm it down. I don't act like that at work but I def do at home or with my family. Clearly I need to take my own advice.

4. I have the "Graduation Goggles". This has been occurring here and there. It's when you're about to leave a job and suddenly nothing seems bad anymore and the people are all so sweet and wonderful to be around. Dubbed by Robin on How I Met Your Mother. Of course that feeling is fleeting. Especially in the past day or two. I realize I will still be able to eat lunch at my next job. Even if they don't have an awesome grill...

5. I  am somewhat creative. My parents are artists, cameras their weapon of choice. I was raised to be creative and love the arts. Though I work in an  office and disappointed my family (lol) I still have some of that creative juice. I made this adorable little onesie for my work friend's baby shower today! Inspired by Sara who thought of the tie and bow tie idea for a little boy's theme. My boss wanted to have a little something more for her besides the gift card.

Friday Factoid Five #5

Happy Friday to all! This week kind of flew by because work has been...weird. Let's leave it at that. Pretty happy the week is done and at some point today I will be the owner of my first ever iPhone! I'm gonna be like this kid when I finally receive it.

1. If I don't get my eyebrows waxed, I look like Brooke Shields. And not in a good way. I didn't start this process until I was probably 17 or 18 because my Mom has VERY light eyebrows and didn't ever have to! It's OK Mom. I figured it out! ha ha

Google Images
2. I HATE it when people talk over me. If I am trying to get a point across and someone interrupts over me loudly or talks over me...nothing instigates me more. I'm super competitive. Don't try me.

3. I recently checked out my Klout score. Klout is this crazy site that tells you how influential you are on the webs. My score was 45. It's now 40. Who stopped listening? Everyone is still here, and then some! The site is clearly not very intuitive because it listed my "Topics I Influence On" as "Hannah Montana, Photography and Justin Bieber". There are no words.

4. I do the robot whenever possible. Does that need an explanation? I've done it in business meetings, at restaurants, in line at the store. Whenever. Just lightens the mood. And no, I'm not good at it.

5. I read so many blogs that I have been forgetting to check People.com. My morning usually consisted of checking news, checking my FB and checking People for important celeb knowledge. I have been so intrigued by all your blogs, and blogs I found from all your blogs...I don't care about celebs as much now! You guys are my new celebs now. So hey, thanks for being awesome!

Friday Factoid Five #4

I'm a quite relieved for Friday this week. It's been an abnormally tense week. Little Turk goes in today to get fixed and have her hernia repaired...so send out good thoughts!

Now what you're all here for. The meat and potatoes. The facts.

1. I've been promoted! I was going to save that for last. But it's bursting out of me! I was offered a management position within my company, without so much as an interview. Just a phone call, and an offer. I didn't think stuff like that happened in real life, But fyi- it DO. My last day at my current job is October 21st. Thrilling!!

2. I got up at 2:58 am today to pre-order my first iPhone. It's not crazy, because millions of people did it. I know that because of how clogged the sites were.  It was frustrating  as it took an hour and 26 minutes minute to get a transaction to go all the way through! Let's hope Sprint doesn't pride themselves on their prep for orders and website ease of use. I love their service but man this SUCKED. Little did I know when Turk followed me into the bathroom (that's where I online shop, I guess) and I sat on the closed toilet lid and just kept her in my lap so she wouldn't dance across the keyboard and order my iPhone in the wrong color by mistake.

3. I bought Boo Berry cereal and keep forgetting to eat it. I saw it, had to have it and brought it home. I have forgotten to eat to 5 consecutive days. I consider it a snack food, not breakfast. I took it off the shelf this am and considered it. Then I remembered I'm not 14 and it's not acceptable for an adult to eat this and then take 5 multi-vitamins. Remind me later though...

This picture is terrifying. Hence why I had to share it. Those are the sugary Halloween cereal mascots. thinkingapeblues.com
 4. I saw a kid fall last night and I laughed. I can't preface that. It's just like it sounds. She was probably 12 or 13, whining while she walked up the stairs at a restaurant where  my husband and I were downing a plate of nachos. She was with 2 friends and she face planted. And it was HILARIOUS. She wasn't hurt...relax. No I didn't verify that before I chortled. I almost never do.

5. I fell asleep during Modern Family this week. The only show I  hardcore "must see". I saw the first 5 minutes then dozed off. I have some catching up to do this weekend on TV that I missed this week. It's a good thing, considering I won't be able to leave Turk much. They have a thing about kittens not running or jumping when they recovering from surgery. Somehow I don't think "hey don't do that!" will work. She doesn't respond to that when she's teetering on the curio cabinet.

Have a wonderous day!

Friday Factoid 5 #3

Good morning and happy Friday! I was 100% sure yesterday was Friday. So much so, that when I rolled over at 6:29 to check the time I thought to myself "Oh YAY it's Saturday!". Saddening. It will be a nice weekend here in Connecticut. The leaves are starting to change a bit and it's cooling off finally. This hair just CAN'T do humidity.

   Onto the 5!!

1. I take traffic jams personally. I can't stop myself from thinking "maybe if whoever was in the accident had been more careful then 10,000 people on the interstate wouldn't be in standstill traffic and late for work right now!" Selfish, I'm aware. I just don't take traffic very well. Let me bask in my immaturity.

I normally soar past this area of the highway. Not today!

2. I am not a cowgirl. I may live in the sticks of Connecticut but I am the opposite of country. I don't love country music, I am allergic to horses, I just can't bring myself to wear cowboy boots (even when in fashion) and you know I'm doing something for you when I got to a party and where this hat you have provided me with.

Note the sarcasm on my face. This one's for you, Alix.

3. Crooked bumper stickers annoy me to death. You wanna rock your favorite vacation destination, your family (in my case a cat sticker) or the college you went to? I think it's awesome and I say go for it. I have a Cape cod "CC" sticker (which is oft confused for Cancun. No I did not go to Cancun when I was at UCONN. I went to Disney, thank you very much) and a small cat  cut out wearing  mouse ears. These are in my rear window because I'm afraid to stick anything to my car's paint (except for bright green paint). If you are going to place stickers on your car PLEASE double check their alignment. Or I will get stuck behind you gritting my teeth in traffic.

The trajectory of the left sticker is wrong. Just wrong. They should have both been placed on  like the one on the right. Big deal? No. But it drove me nuts to stare at.

4. I have trouble understanding people with thick accents. To a fault, like I can't have a real convo with them. I think my mind just blocks out accents sometimes. I probaby have an accent to someone in the south. I sound like the uptight CT jerk that I am. We have an Egyptian man at work who runs the kitchen in the cafe. He's such a great guy, I adore him. I can understand 30% of what he says. It's probably my brain reacting to the jealousy that I was born in CT and still live here. I'm a non-exotic.

5. I would have majored in Egyptology if they offered it. I am obsessed with ancient Egypt. I think there is no more fascinating ancient culture. I got my minor in history (and psych, but only because I had taken so many as electives) and I enjoyed every class I took. If I'm watching tv with husband he will stop flipping if it's a show about mummies or pyramids or Egypt related. He just knows to stop. Someday...I will see the glorious Sphinx. I will stand in its shadow and bask in the sands.

Or I'll bask to the far front of Sphinx because clearly I'd fall on that gate pictured above if I really basked and I don't like the idea of bruised ribs.

Later, peeps.

Friday Factoid Five #2

I was ecstatic to wake up today and realize it actually was Friday. Per the usual, I thought it was Friday every day since Tuesday this week. Wishful dreaming, I suppose. Started last week, I will wow you all with another set of facts about myself or my intrigues.

1. I planned my entire outfit today around a $6.80 necklace from Forever 21 that I've been pining after. Found here.

It was really one of those things you see and don't buy and then think about for 2 weeks until you finally go back and just BUY it. Money well spent. I'm more excited about the necklace than the fact that the bathroom may be done this weekend.

2. I gloated a few weeks ago about how I haven't had jury duty in 5 years since I was 2 hours late and they excused me because I was sick as a dog. A week later I got a summons. *eye roll* So I may have jury duty on Monday which I dread.

3. I love lemon poppy seed muffins...but I have a "catch-all" gap in between my my left front tooth and the one next to it (I don't know the "names", forgive me). No matter how hard I try if I eat poppy seeds I will end up with one in that space. I have dental floss in my desk at work, my car and in 3 places at my house. I'm saying all that because I'm eating that muffin now.

4. I did not know Oliver & Company, the Disney cartoon about the delightful orange kitten and his scrappy pals was a variation of Oliver Twist until last night when I was reading the end of Jaycee Dugard's book and she referenced it. I immediately shouted to Aaron as he painted the bathroom to see if he knew that. He didn't, so I felt better. I guess I never put two and two together. Maybe I did, but they didn't equal four...

5. I downloaded Wuthering Heights the other day on Kindle. I was alerted by my friend Josh that it's free because most of the classics aren't "owned" by anyone. They didn't protect them with copyrights etc back then. Sweet! So I downloaded it because I didn't read the classics in high school. I read the Cliffs Notes. I tried to read it last night and I quickly recalled why I didn't read it in high school. It's written a little too poetically for my tastes. Two pages in and I had a headache. If it's necessary for me to soldier on, tell me now.

I hope everyone enjoys their last day of this work week!!

Friday Factoid Five

Aaron and I are both sick, each hosting our own illness. Yesterday he was off from work (not by choice, he was scheduled off) and I asked him to pick up some simple off-white paint. This one was clearly an issue because even after a 10 minute convo on how the paint shouldn't be beige or "yellow-ish" he still didnt' feel safe buying the paint on his own. I got this text "bc i wat your approval". Fair enough-ish. But now -mission is not accomplished.

I came home to several beige samples and 2 or three "off white", one being named "New England Clam Chowder" which he picked because he knew I'd like the name. Home run. He knows his audience. Paint should be bought today and painted by this weekend. This bathroom will not be done until next July, I imagine so don't get your hopes up.

That was an inspiring intro to my new series "Friday Factoid Five". It's where I tell you 5 things that are semi-interesting in list form about my day or myself. It'll be painless. Just relaaaaaax.

1. I brought peanut butter and fluff as a snack. That's what this adult in a suit plans to eat at her desk for a mid-day snack after lunch. PB& fluff. Judge if you must. It's eating a whole in my pocket, figuratively speaking. I won't ever make it til lunch.

2. I'm going to a Mets game this Sunday and there are high terror alerts all over NY and DC. I'm probably not as concerned as I should be. I'm more of a "what are the odds of it happening to me?" kinda gal. Though I did have a friend who perished in the 1st plane on September 11th. So it does happen.

3. Every Friday morning on the way to work while listening to Elvis Duran and the morning show someone makes a reference to Rebecca Black's "Friday" and it ends up stuck in my head.

I'm not proud of this. But it is what it is. And now it's stuck in yours. BWAAA HAAA HAAA.

4. I hate spoilers more than anything. I love surprise endings and not knowing what will happen. I enjoy suspense. I am now almost done with Sex and the City, I joined the rest of the world. But spoilers keep finding me. I accidentally ordered the wrong next disc form Netflix and ended up finding out 3 discs too soon that Miranda married Steve and Carrie and Berger break up. Devastated!

www.fanpop.com
It's all good as I love Miranda and Steve together. Stupid Netflix. It's not my fault... it's Netflix, right? Who the hell breaks a season down into 6.1 and 6.2?

5. I thought it was Friday nearly everyday this week but today. I'm so off on my schedule that I forgot I got paid yesterday. Aaron had to tell me. That deserves a "doy, Autumn".

I have now eaten half of my PB& fluff, told you I couldn't wait. You all have a wonderful Friiiiday, Friiiiday, gotta get down on Friiiiday. I'm sorry...
