Hikin' by my se-eeelf.

Hopefully this is the only day in my life that I'll be able to say "I just got lost in the woods by myself."

6:05pm- I arrive at the mouth of the trail. Check out the awesome direction poster of the trails. Bop on down the trail.

6:15pm- I reach the fire tower (which I habitually call "the water tower" and Aaron acts like he doesn't know what I'm referring to). You can climb to the top and see an awesome view of Woodbury, CT. But it's rickety & terrifying.

6:16pm- I opt to take "the road less traveled" channeling my inner Robert Frost. This is the 1st error. I find myself trying to recall if the trail color is green or blue. I should have taken a photo of the diagram. Horse apples.

6:24pm- growing concern. I see some trees with blue marks and some with green. Trees are blocking the path. I think "what could be dangerous out here?" and then I picture a snake snapping out of a rock cluster as I plod over them.

6:30pm- the sun is weakening. I no longer recognize trail markers or trees. I think "when they find my body, Aaron will just tell them what my tattoos are. They'll know it's me.

6:32pm- I remember I have an iPhone and it has a compass. Issue- I don't know which direction is correct. Square 1. I turn on the map app and realize how far I am. Panic.

6:40pm- sweating, wandering, thirsty. I see the roof of a house at the very base of what feels like Everest. Civilization! But really- i'm on a cliff. No way out.

6:45pm- Aaron texts me. I tell him I'm lost. He offers to find me. I pass.

6:50pm- trail located! I'm not going to die! Wait.. I was only in the woods for like 40 minutes. My bug spray lasts 7 hours past that.

6:59pm- I reach the base of the trail. The house...the one with the roof... Is to the left of the trail base. I was literally there 20 minutes ago. Stoooooopit.

Titanic

This weekend was, of course, the 100th anniversary of the Titanic sinking. I went to see the re-release in the theater on Friday (so awesome to see it on the big screen again, btw). There was a lot of news and documentaries this weekend which complimented the film nicely. One thing stands out in particular. I have my opinions, but I'd love to hear yours!!

Cruise departing from South Hampton, UK, tracing the actual route of the Titanic 100 years ago. They're calling it a memorial cruise. People wore period clothing, ate the same meals and observed silence when they passed the actual site of the wreck.

I have been fascinated by Titanic since I was a kid. I have found totally varied opinions on this particular memorial. Thoughts?
I think I may be leaning towards "that's kind of awesome".

Double wide...

Rainbow. A double rainbow. That's what happened to me today. I can't say that I was as excited as some people might get (we ALL know who I'm referring to). But honestly, I stood in the rain taking pics of it because I was a little awestruck. Kind of like bumping into Jordan Knight in Shop Rite. If that ever happened. Please enjoy! I only touched up the first pic. The rest are literally taken from nature herself.

Hi. I jogged with Rainbow Brite today.

Then I quickly turned the iPhone to video. It was raining, but I had to risk it, apparently.

You, sir, are odd.

I don't know that I've ever mentioned how weird the cat who inspired this blog IS. He's the dirtiest Himalayan any vet or groomer has ever seen. Apollo sleeps on our heads at night, right on the pillow. He sticks his tongue out regularly because he has teeth missing. We think he does it to be funny. He does as he pleases, but really loves to be around people. Not all cats do...

He has rituals. The most unusual I've witnessed has been going on since we brought him home and set up his litter in the laundry room (only after weeks of litter in the foyer, then hallway, etc. until we were able to lure him downstairs to find it). Any time either if us is in our little laundry room, he has to be there. Then, like creepy clockwork, he makes his way to the litter. He doesn't go always. But he does do what you're about to see for at least 5 minutes. I think my cat has OCD. Please note the patch on the wall above his head. He did that.

Happy Wednesday, I suppose!

Un-safety

The opposite of being safe. When you have a car that has well over 200000 miles on it and plan on driving it til it dies. My husband found a way to shorten the wait. I came outside to see his car this morning in dire straits.

Side note- he drove a lot yesterday. Almost across the great state of Connecticut. Like this....

Yes, it's possible

I'm weird. You already know that and probably enjoy it about me... Or you wouldn't be curious to read this. I've had my share of weird injuries, but I think I took my own cake this time.

Wicked cold and cough. Out of control coughing fits in the middle of the night while poor Aaron slept on the couch. I wake up Tuesday with a horrific back pain, unable to walk. I know. So messed up.

Went to work... Suffered... Tried to be brave! Had to go home. The next day I woke up unable to move again. I broke down & called a doctor! Got an appointment & headed down. Turns out, drum roll please...

I dislocated my two lower left ribs. By COUGHING. Yes, that's real and it happens " a lot", per the doc. He " put them back in place" and 48 hours later I'm starting to feel some relief. My advice to you? Be careful when you cough, folks. It's not worth it! Lol

Have a Happy Easter weekend!

Say what? She's back?!

Holy cats. It's been a long time! How is everyone??!! I'm currently laid up in bed with a thrown-out back. I went to work yesterday and hobbled around like a 90 year old cat lady and was sent home. Life is good! Busy and good!

What's happened over the past 3 months...I went on a juicing binge where I drank freshly juiced fruit drinks daily...then settled on just eating more fruits and veggies. I quit Excedrin once and for all. I went back to working out. I guess you could say I was on a "self-improvement" kick. I still am..it's just harder when it's like 65 degrees outside and I'm in bed unable to move. Should you be allowed to complain when you have muscle relaxers for this? I don't know ;)

Aaron and I decided to take one last hurrah as "childless young people" and go on a 2nd Honeymoon for our anniversary. We depart May 12th. I don't want to be a nerd who counts down the days. But it's T-minus 38 days. Oops. I'm a nerd after all!!

There's the little prince. You know you missed him!

Obviously everyone missed the cat pics. That's why you're back, right??

More to come! I'm back, bitches.
