And the dress winner is...

Forever 21. It took me like 30 minutes to find 2 of the 4 dresses. Then I stumbled across the 3rd by mistake. Sadly, the maroon-ish dress looked like PJs in person. I didn't even try it on. It was sad. You can see it again here.

I then headed into the dressing room and was given the ONLY stall without a working light fixture above it. *sigh* I know everyone loved dress #3 and I did too. However, there should be a disclaimer that if you're over 5'7, you shouldn't wear it. The "waist" came up to my bust line almost.

There I was. Ready to board the "Good Ship Lollipop". A little too precious for my 5'10 frame. I tried on a gray lace dress with the same shape but worse. I did not photograph that. You're welcome.

   And the winner is...

It just worked! I'm thinking black opaque tights with black pumps. Retro style. Or maybe just no tights and black flats? Guess we'll see when October 1st comes. And special thanks to the bride, Alix, for weighing in!!! You guessed it after I had bought it! Good eye, kid.

Options. Of the dress persuasion.

I love getting dressed up. I have a wedding next weekend and I'm thrilled to get all fall-style dressed! But I haven't decided what look I want yet. I found a couple adorable choices at Forever 21 (one of my faves). This wedding is partially outdoors and the reception is in a classy restaurant right in my town of Woodbury! (yay Alix and Cliff!!)

I saw this first one at the store last week. LOVED it in person but didn't have time to try it on. Super-duper cheap. Thoughts? Maybe with some black pumps and black jewelry?

Found here!

This one is nowhere on the site, but I saw it in the store. So it exists!

 here, of course.

I realize they are all very similar, minus the gold + black. So help a sister out. What do you think? They all feel very "Autumn Wedding" to me, no pun intended. That's a lie. I totally meant it. Help me anyway, though.

Fabric Lovers

I met my pregnant friend Sara this morning to chose some fabrics for her baby's nursery. We soon learned that if two women, one pregnant and one domineering, go fabric shopping together...they are partners. Life partners. According to the staff at Joann's. We were fine with it. I accepted congratulations along with her. Why not? It's Saturday. That's fun day.

I learned that I am decisive and opinionated. It was really fun to pick the patterns, knowing her colors so well. It was like choosing for my own kid! (essentially I guess it was, since we are partners now.)

Sara has chosen an adorable semi-owl themed bedding set and wanted to mix it up in the rest of the room. Naturally, I was fully on board with assisting as I have "eclectic" written all over me. The above are the outtakes. I had a huge eye watering allery-esque attack and ran out to my car to find a Dunkin napkin to clean up with. I came back and she had ousted the owl theme. Too much brown. But hilarious that I walk away for 20 seconds and she finds resolution. Guess I did help! We had a laugh and she felt better with her original color scheme.

Super cute, right? And the crib is gray so it's so little boyish and fun. As I've told Sara, I will not be DIYing any of my child's room. This was just too confusing. Too many choices! So now Sara has her lamp shade, seat and bed skirt fabric. We were mistaken for Joann employees, lovers and then just ladies who needed a lot of fabric. Nicely done, Sara, nicely done. I can't wait for it to be done to share it with you all (and take partial credit for chosing some of the fabrics...).

Have a great weeked everyone!

Target Garden

Those two words in the title are entirely non-related. I just want to talk about those two things and I thought the idea of a "Target Garden" sounded enticing. My qualm with Target (who is one of my greatest loves) is that I can't get on the site to even peek at the new Missoni line. I just got rid of ALL my clothes and I feel good about it. I will not be shopping for a new wardrobe. But it's rather disappointing that I can't even look! Did they expect this to happen? I didn't realize it would be all hell breaking loose on the interwebs. Luckily I finally found this ad... Guess I have to go fight the crowds after work to get a look! haha

Right? I'm jealous of Michelle over at twentynine got there and got shoes! I do like those little flats.  And it's a naturally only there for a limited time. Hope they restock soon.
My other topic this am that's plaguing me is the gardens outside my condo entryway. My mother-in-law has a green thumb and has kept the garden on the unit she is in next door amazingly. She's leaving though and I am concerned it's going to all die.

If only I had this ability. I kill plants. I have one living plant in my home and it was a birthday gift from last year. The one from this year is already deceased. I tried!! This is our side of the garden:

And the plants you see there were planted by my mother-in-law. It's pathetic. Does anyone have any gardening tips? Ways you keep plants alive? HELP. The newer neighbors on the other side just dug up all the trees ad ivy from their garden and it's a bare plain now. The gent is about to create a gorgeous garden, I know it. I have to catch up with these people. The area doesn't get a ton of light so I can't just plant anything. Suggestions are more than welcome.

You all have a great morning!

Bob Smith is dead to me

You can gather what happened with the contractor last night from the aggressive title of this post. Aaron and I have agreed to stop shouting at each other (via text) in this matter. Aaron states that because Mr. Smith said it could take "up to 2 weeks" that we need to relax and let him do his thang. My husband should know that "not relaxing" happens to be "my thang". 2 weeks? Seriously? Obviously Aaron or Bob have never seen "The Money Pit". The below video could not have been better created by yours truly.

This clip is my life. And yes, I know it's just a bathroom. LET ME HAVE MY MOMENT!! It's just taking longer to "start up" than I was assured. By my loving husband. I wasn't ready to head right home after staying late at work. I wanted to put it off some out of fear. Though it was down pouring and I had to sit in a wet car seat because I didn't have the foresight to roll my windows up (sigh), I headed to Bed, Bath and Beyond to examine some decorating ideas for the beautiful new bathroom. I could picture it, waiting at home for me, as I perused shower curtains and wastebaskets. It looks like a Cape Cod heaven in my mind's eye.

I found some options, though not so sure where I plan to go yet with shower curtains. These were my faves:

Or perhaps...

Or maybe a wicker set?

I will now admit that the latter 2 are my favorite choices. I don't want to let on too much about the bathroom just yet. You'll just have to trust me! They'll match. It's just a matter of a funky porcelain or a fun beach style wicker? What do you think?? Comment below to advise me in my quest.

Now for what you've all been waiting for. What happened when I got home last night in my soaking wet suit...raced up the stairs since Bob had already left for the day...

That's it. He dumped the tub into the room and did nothing else. I am not a plumber. I am not a contractor (obv, I show up when I'm being paid to...). But I can't wrap my head around it taking 8 hours to install a tub. I text Aaron angrily and he defends the guy again as if I've just told him Apollo didn't do a good job eating his cat food. Defensive and angry and the "OK, whatever you say" bit. It ended with a truce. I'm not allowed to call Bob names or use the "F-Word" when describing progress to the bathroom and he isn't allowed to defend Bob as if he were our first born. *dramatic eye roll*

He's coming back tonight. So lets see if I can hold up my end of this stupid constructive bargain. Don't forget to "follow me" via Google!! The more readers I know I have, the better I can keep posting!

I'll see you all later!! Xo Autumn Van Weir
