Vitamins?

Has anyone else noticed recently how often people in the media and news are talking about vitamins?? Like now the multiple vitamins I buy at Target that are a rip off of women's centrum isn't enough? Well according to Dr. Oz, they aren't. After reading a scary article on calcium (and my Mom lecturing me) I started taking calcium chews. Fine. Then my neurologist (migraines) advised me to take potassium since I don't like bananas. OK. So that's now 4 things I take in the am. Then I hear the Elvis Duran show this morning. Dr. Oz (who I think is rad) was on yesterday and addressed blood pressure. That got the team all worked up about health. Today they announce the study on B12. And while it's good for older adults, I can't remember what day it is most of the time, so maybe I need to look into this.

Then I was daydreaming about vitamins and remember when I was younger and uber-bitchy my Mom was force me to take B6. It supposedly "un-bitched" you. However, I did some research and found NOTHING here about B6. And that's from the feds, people. So i'm at a loss. Aaron will just have to continue dealing with me at this rate of aggression because ain't no B6 gonna fix it (according to the US Government).

The last vitamin that has been rearing it's ugly head is D. My allergist (who confirmed to Aaron that I am in fact allergic to horses and nothing else) advised me to start taking vitamin D. It was clearly his pet cause because I showed no deficiency in anything and he probably just has a deal with the vitamin companies. So he said every human should spend 30 minutes in the sun per day, or take 1000mg of D. 30 minutes? We live in Connecticut, pal. I'm lucky if I don't run to my car because I'm freezing to death half the year. I'll take the damn pill October-May.

I think it's like when you don't know anyone who has a certain car. Then one or more of your BFFs get one and you see Rav 4s everywhere suddenly (yes, that happened). I knew I should take a multi-vitamin because growing up my Mom was a health freak and hammered it into me (which I'm grateful for). But why all the vitamin talk now? You think it has anything to do with American's "All Oreo" diets? Do any of YOU take any vitamins I should add to my list? I'm going to Target after work to go vitamin shopping. AND to pick up my fixed pumps!! Finally caught the shoe repair guy!

Shoe Repair

Pet peeve. Don't post your store hours at 9-6 pm and then go home early when you're running a Mom and Pop. You will annoy/lose customers. I have been to a local shoe repair shop 3 times now to attempt to get my sexy Nine West pump repaired. I wore them once. Who ever said you shouldn't tap dance in pumps was right. I'm totally messing with you. But I really did just casually lean one foot on the heel while I was on the phone standing at my desk and the heel came loose. I generally love Nine West for my work shoes. I have to wear a suit and they are trendy and dressy at the same time, often. These things just snapped.

I have been to the same shop anywhere between 5 and 6 post-work and anticipated being able to walk in and get my shoe fixed "while I wait", per their sign. The first day it was 6:05 so I understood why they were closed. The second, late last week, I went at 5:48 and they were already shut down. The sign clearly says 6pm! So I try again. I go last night on my way home and of course there's a sign on the door "Will be closed Monday Aug 22nd" in scrawly handwriting. Hi, I'm Autumn, and I can't win.

So what did I find when I got home?...

Guess what arrived!? My Jewelmint purchase!! Everybody let me know what pieces they liked more back here. So with my awesome discount code and $14.99 out of my pocket I was excited to see what that got me. I must say the packaging alone sold me on this company. It was expertly crafted! The box was so pleasing to the eye and to find the message inside about my piece was fun.

A velvet bag holding my surprise greeted me after I wrassled open the box. The top of the box had a little blurb about the piece I had chosen and a thanks from the owners.

And there it was! My ring bracelet!

I'm super pleased with it and would recommend Jewelmint to anyone! I ran to find the cats to celebrate.

And there was Turk. In a pair of Aaron's shorts. A pants puddling cat. That's not too weird.

She made herself at home and I excused myself...

Why thank you, Capezio!

Most frustrating convo I've ever had took place today between my husband and I. Via text, of course. How else would we communicate? (names changed for privacy!)

Me- Have you talked to <Bob>?
Aaron- Yah
Me- Could you please save me the stress and tell me what's up in our home at this time?
Aaron- <Smith>?
Me- I'm not asking about Bob Smith, Aaron. I'm asking about our g*ddamn contractor.
Aaron- Oh. he's there working. hell prob still be there when you or I get home. (presumably meant "he'll")

My lunch buddies Patty and Sara thought it was a real hoot. And were probably equally scared for me.

In normal Autumn fashion I will now point out an interesting phenomenon happening in Casa Van Weir.

This cat...

Is obsessed...

With flip flops.

Who doesn't love a cute Summer shoe? I know I do. I just didn't realize I'd have to hide shoes from this kitten. Hopefully she won't start peeing on them...

I now feel the need to drop some knowledge I got off Twitter today. You can get FREE ballet slippers by visiting this link at Capezio. The deal is $4.95 for shipping and they send them to you! I'm all over it. If you don't want a pair (they're FREE..maybe you didn't hear me) I'll show you mine when they come in! I enjoy a tasteful ballet slipper and really feel I can work it into my wardrobe from a casual standpoint. Or I'll wear them as slippers. I'm Excited! I was a ballerina in my younger years :)
