A Lovely Fall Wedding

Hey gang! Happy Monday *shudder*! It was a chilly 46 degrees when I left for work today. But I kind of liked it. I got to wear boots and sweaters this weekend. That's how I roll in the fall.

This weekend I got to watch 2 friends become 1. Not Spice Girl style, I mean in marriage.

Cue the gratuitous Spice Girl footage. I'm fine with it if you are all.

Because of heavy rains in Connecticut the original plan for the ceremony to be at a farm was canceled. They got married on a lovely back patio of the Longwood Inn right down the road from where we all live in Woodbury. I didn't think to take a picture of the place cards when I walked in but it was awesome!

They were all hung on a rack of little clotheslines! It was gorgeous. I WISH I had taken a picture to share with you. Stupid! Anyhow, all the tables had different centerpieces and it was a really fun country eclectic look.

The inn is a local restaurant that has rooms as well, very Woodbury. The bride, my friend Alix, had the perfect dress for the occasion. An ivory A-line with pick-ups on the skirt and a beautiful beige colored lace up back. Also a fold over in the beige at the strapless top. So pretty!

I know you're all thinking "where's the lace dress?". It was too short! When I tried the outfit all on together. No good.

Here is my husband with the wine charms in his ears like earrings...

Yes, that's my loving husband. I actually put them in his ears, he had issues with it. Don't judge. Just because I lubed them with Burt's Bees chapstick...

Very fun time and a heartfelt congrats to the newlyweds!!

And the dress winner is...

Forever 21. It took me like 30 minutes to find 2 of the 4 dresses. Then I stumbled across the 3rd by mistake. Sadly, the maroon-ish dress looked like PJs in person. I didn't even try it on. It was sad. You can see it again here.

I then headed into the dressing room and was given the ONLY stall without a working light fixture above it. *sigh* I know everyone loved dress #3 and I did too. However, there should be a disclaimer that if you're over 5'7, you shouldn't wear it. The "waist" came up to my bust line almost.

There I was. Ready to board the "Good Ship Lollipop". A little too precious for my 5'10 frame. I tried on a gray lace dress with the same shape but worse. I did not photograph that. You're welcome.

   And the winner is...

It just worked! I'm thinking black opaque tights with black pumps. Retro style. Or maybe just no tights and black flats? Guess we'll see when October 1st comes. And special thanks to the bride, Alix, for weighing in!!! You guessed it after I had bought it! Good eye, kid.

Options. Of the dress persuasion.

I love getting dressed up. I have a wedding next weekend and I'm thrilled to get all fall-style dressed! But I haven't decided what look I want yet. I found a couple adorable choices at Forever 21 (one of my faves). This wedding is partially outdoors and the reception is in a classy restaurant right in my town of Woodbury! (yay Alix and Cliff!!)

I saw this first one at the store last week. LOVED it in person but didn't have time to try it on. Super-duper cheap. Thoughts? Maybe with some black pumps and black jewelry?

Found here!

Found here

This one is nowhere on the site, but I saw it in the store. So it exists!

 here, of course.

I realize they are all very similar, minus the gold + black. So help a sister out. What do you think? They all feel very "Autumn Wedding" to me, no pun intended. That's a lie. I totally meant it. Help me anyway, though.

Drumroll for wedding pictures...

I am super excited to share the info on how to get to my wedding pictures online! I had about 5 different photographers only because my parents are professionals and they had friends there as well as our hired photographer. My mom was kind enough to assemble ALL of the pictures from all the parties involved and put them in one place! It took her a really long time so I thank you, Mom!!

If you want to look at a few, or every single one, they are broken down into 2 different sections. Titled "Autumn + Aaron" and "Autumn + Aaron Reception". So feel free, my friends!

Go to Autumn Studios Photography and enter the site. Click on the left drop down called "Information" and select "My Pictures". It will bring you to the pic viewing site. Select one of the titles mentioned above. Then just type in your email (you will not receive emails from anyone) and you can have at 'em!! It was such a great day...if you're into weddings, take a peek!

I'll be back later...see you then!

Awwww Mom

My mother finished compiling the thousands of (I'm exaggerating) pictures from my wedding from multiple photographers. She advised me of this via the funniest text sequence ever.

Mom- Be sure to text your brother with the date for the Big E. (for non-locals, that's a giant New England fair)

Mom- And they  are activated. (she means the wedding pictures)

Me- Is that a threat? Do you have bombs?

Mom- Very funny. Did you get my text about Big E?

Mom- Not the rapper.

Me- Yes,  I texted John. Do you think the Big E is a rapper?

Mom- No Biggie E Small?

Me- <barely contained chortling at my desk> LMAO. It's Biggie Smalls, Ma. That's getting blogged.

Mom- Thought you'd like that. idk what I'm talking about. Just trying to keep up with you kids. :)

Me- You may have missed the boat. He died like 16 years ago.

Mom- IK that.

Of course I'll share the link in my next post. I need one more moment of glory for my wedding before we enter a new year and it's no longer "the year I got married".

The gross thing on my dress

Some of you may have noticed I posted pics from the wonderful wedding this Saturday...but none with me in them. Weird, right? No. I wanted to make you all wait. I wouldn't even tell my 13 year old cousin, Lea, what I chose to do.

Let me begin by saying that there is nothing like being in a hotel by yourself. It's so peaceful and relaxing. I sat on a fresh bed, Kindle in hand and housed a Subway turkey, bacon and avocado 6 incher. Then I took a nap. It was just amazing. The room was the prefect temperature and sunny. I was in my glory! It was nice considering I couldn't sleep well, though I had my bed at home to myself because my husband was with his BFFs pre-wedding. I was up at 5 that morning (Probably residual anxiety from my own wedding planning). Then I got ready in the hotel and pretended I was a hollywood starlet.

The final outcome. I took a few pics of myself and then my mother did as well when I stopped at her house between the church and hall. Did I go curly or straight? The answer is both. By the end of the rehearsal my hair was a curly ball of FRIZZ. So I blew it straight and then curled it!

I was happy with the results and thank you all so much for weighing in! It was brought to my attention by a friend that the short hair straight pics weren't awesome. So I think the curl was the biased vote.

The wedding was beautiful. The bride looked like Cinderella, the groom let all his guys wear ball caps to the reception. There was a DJ and live acoustic singers to perform the country version of "Heaven". It was all very pleasing and personal to the bride and groom's tastes. My Aaron did the best man speech which he had spent hours preparing.

I forgot to bring in the photo booth pictures we all took. That was the party favor and it was SO MUCH FUN! It was a great night and congratulations to Wes + Kelly!

The down side to the black dress I wore. It was like wearing PJs and I loved how it looked. However, on the ride back to the hotel in the shuttle Aaron dumped all his luggage on my lap so he could get in. We then just left it there. Upon entering the elevator my sister in law, Laura screeches and points at the front of my dress. "What's ON you?" I look down and to my horror there is a baby slug sliming around the front of my beautiful dress. Aaron flicked it off and it landed on the door to the elevator. Everyone got a real kick out of it appearing and disappearing each time the door opened.

Hello Sluggy. Brought to you by Sanrio.

The grossest part was his remnants that he left on my new dress. I'm mortified to walk into my cleaners and say "Hi, can you get slug off my dress?"

Freaking disgusting. I tried to wash it off with cold water yesterday and it just reactivated the slime components and it went everywhere. I will never feel bad again if I step on a slug in my walkway outside the condo  after a rain storm.

10 am and I'm eating a brownie...

If you have issues with people who eat dessert foods in the morning on occasion, this is not the blog for you to follow. To be fair, it's not just "any brownie". It's a Red Velvet and Cream Cheese brownie I made from scratch. That's right. She cooks/bakes too, folks.

Today is a joyous occasion...one of my closest friend's younger sister is getting hitched this afternoon. Me being the donkey I am, didn't check to see what time the ceremony was until last week. It starts at 4 something. SO I didn't really need to take this day off. Is it as bad if you are productive? That's the plan.

I came back from my jog and Aaron was in the shower. He too took the day off from his job as a chef to attend. So I'm rebrushing my teeth (I took this roughly 5 times a day. And I can't stand in the bathroom when I'm doing so either) and I say to my dear husband "should I do my hair tonight like I did it for our rehearsal dinner?" Now I know what you're thinking..."how can you expect him to recall something like that?" Easily. It was 5 WEEKS AGO!! SO I ask the question and it's lingering in the air between the space where I'm brushing and the shower curtain.Silence.

Me- "You do remember how I had my hair, right?"
Aaron- "*pause* Yeah...didn't you have it, kind of...um, up but sorta down?"
Me- "sigh" <exit stage left>
Mission: failed. Apparently I didn't look as memorable as I had hoped. And to answer the question on every one's minds...my hair was down. With barrettes in it.

The other reason I'm eating a brownie is this:

**Disclaimer: I did not open that drawer for dramatic effect. That's how it was left**

This is how Aaron leaves his nightstand. I don't claim to be a neat freak (lying) but I can't stand the sight of this. It looks like a dorm room threw up on my husband's side of the bead. Beer caps, plastic bags, golf tees, paint samples. OK, maybe the paint samples are a bit "grown up" for a dorm. But still. We don't argue over this either. I merely say "You'll be so embarrassed if the Queen shows up and sees your nightstand like that". And that doesn't work! I don't get it!?  All I want is for both sides of the room to look like my side:

One day you're going to read about me just snapping and taking the drawers out of the nightstand.  And I know just where I'll hide them so he'll NEVER find them. In his dresser:

**Yes, that is a mug shaped like boobs containing dollar bills on top of the dresser.**

Am I the only one this happens to? Please tell me I'm not...
